I certainly don't take a photo a day. Some days I take none, other days, I'll take 30. Today I decided to press the "manual focus" button on my camera. I think I will be rereading the manual, since I really have no idea what I was doing. But, I did have a willing subject, as you can see.
I didn't bother cloning out the stray hairs. Just a quick adjustment to the levels and removed the color cast. I did use a new, free action from Pure Photoshop Actions (on their Facebook page) to resize and sharpen for the web. I think I will be using the action frequently for FB photos. I've been reading the Scott Kelby book for PSE8 and finally had an "ah-ha" moment with levels. Now I just need to figure out curves. If anyone has a good tutorial somewhere for curves, I would greatly appreciate it!

You're doing great, learning new things with your camera! Wonderful job with your first shot in manual! And when you get more familiar with it, you'll never want to go back!
Oh I'd like to read a tutorial on curves when you get a hold of it too! And I guess I should look at the Scott Kelby book, because levels are WAY beyond me!
And very nice job on the photo - it looks great!
what a cutie and btw once you learn manual you won't want to use anything else :)
Yeah for trying something new. Manual mode still scares me and PS curves might as well be calculus to me. Good for you.
Well it came out awesome! She's soo cute!!
YEAH! that's wonderful that you are getting your manual out to learn something new. Keep it up. You never know when you are going to need that extra info.
Great shot! You have the cutest model!
She is gorgeous!! Keep up the great work!
Yes, that Scott Kelly book has been my friend for quite some time. I feel like I've mastered the levels on my pics because of that book. Now I just need to learn how to do manual. I think your shot looks great!
