Home a few hours early and a layout

I really hate working in the evening. But, I sure do like getting out early because of it. I gave my Child Passenger Safety presentation to day care providers on Wednesday night. I took those extra hours and a couple from my bank and got out of there early! I'm home with a little bit of quiet time, I won't pick the girls up during day care's nap time unless really necessary. Nothing like waking up my girls and making them crabby.

I finished a bunch of layouts and projects for the Apron Strings March kit. I can't show them yet, but have to say I used up almost every sheet of paper in the kit. :) Loved it all. I can post one of my other layouts I made for the journaling challenge. This layout is all about how I regret not having more pictures of my mom with Alexa. She only got 5 months with her, and I literally have TWO pictures of them together, where you can see my mom's face. Pretty sad.

Journaling reads: "Just two pictures. Not nearly enough. We didn't realize how little time you would have with Alexa. I wish I could go back and take more pictures like this. Nana and Alexa Palma, on the night she was born. 12-29-03"

So, take bunches and bunches of pictures. And don't forget to take the "bigger picture" - not just up close shots - and get in a few yourself. (this I need to work on especially).

Happy Friday!

Kindergarten Round-up.

I'm so not ready for this!! In early March, we have to register Alexa for Kindergarten. I can't believe we are sending her to school in the fall. She is of course, ecstatic. John and I are in DE-NI-AL. Right now, we are going to send her to the district we live in. We still have reservations because the test scores leave a lot to be desired, but considering our work schedules, our uncertainty of when we will be able to sell our house and the fact that the bus would pick her up at day care, right now, it's the most viable option. We'll still look into School of Choice options, but at least get her registered and ready to go if nothing else works out.

Kindergarten. I'm going to need a camera, tissues, and an anti-depressant for the first day!

A Wii for Valentines Day.

A Wii!!! John came home with a Wii on Friday. I love it. He loves it. And, John is so not a video game guy. Of course, he's whipped my ass in each game we've played on Wii sports. I need to practice.
For the chicklets, we got them some candy and a small toy. I altered some mailboxes for the goodies.

We made some chocolate covered fruit for our special dessert, because every holiday deserves a party according to Alexa. Then we played more Wii. ;)

And! I got my first Apron Strings Designs kit to design with. I'm working with the Smaller than a Breadbox kit for March and it is FAB! I've already started working on a couple layouts. You can see a sneak of both kits in the latest newsletter "The Dish." Click on the February '09 newsletter to get a sneak peak of what's coming.

So if you don't see me for awhile, I'm either on the Wii or working on my March layouts.

Flashback Friday

I just love these pictures

Alexa at 4 months:

Ava at 4 months:

Project 12 - January

Anybody who scrapbooks on a regular basis, has probably heard of the Project 365 craze. I know I would keep up with taking a picture a day and then printing it, and putting it in an album. All. Year. So, I went with the Project 12 idea. One layout per month, as many or as few photos as you'd like to sum up the month. I want to get each month's layout created by the end of the following month. On that note, here is January:

I was able to use my January kit from Apron Strings to put it together and added the letter stickers, chipboard, snowflakes, and the note card and calendar (Elles Studio).

These are some of my favorite photos from January! I'm going to use the calendar's on each page and vary the format/lay out based on the photos.

4-day weekend

Those are some glorious words right now.

p.s. the re-vote on the contract passed. I've never been so happy to give back pay before.

Apparently my bathroom is not up to par.

Because Ava refuses to use it. Daycare's? Perfectly fine. Even dry ALL day today. And, where does she go as soon as she gets home? MM, hmm. The diaper. Even with candy as a bribe...no dice. I think she's enjoying this.

A couple of mini-albums

It's too cold to do much else, so I've been crafty.

Ava's birthday album, from this summer:

The album loaded here:

A mini about all our mini-vacations last year:

The rest of the album is here:

The vote failed.

Layoffs coming. No idea if I'll be in them eventually. I'm not on the "February" list. Too many people below me to be on the March list either. UGH.

Sunday, February 1, 2009

the "announcement" is Monday

We voted on our contract. We'll know on Monday if it passed or not. I'm not confident. Then it's the waiting game to see if I get a pink slip. Good times.
